Intro Session
Perfect for young beginners. A gentle introduction to piano basics.
Standard Lesson
The sweet spot for most students. Room to explore and grow.
Extended Session
Deep, focused work for serious students and exam candidates.
All lessons are private, one-on-one. Session length can be adjusted as you progress.
Studio Policies
Your weekly time slot is a commitment — held for you alone, whether you attend that week or not. Cancellations and time changes are possible, but only as set out below. All notice periods are counted back from the start time of the lesson concerned.
Weekly Lesson Time
Lessons take place once per week at a fixed time. This slot is held for you and is not offered to anyone else — whether you attend that week or not.
Payments
Paid in advance, monthly or per term. The payment is what reserves your weekly slot — not individual lessons.
Cancellations (48 hours or more)
Give at least 48 hours notice and Julia will try to find another time within her existing schedule. If nothing suitable is free, the lesson is forfeited with no refund.
Missed or Late Cancellations
Less than 48 hours notice, or no notice at all: the lesson is used up. It is not refunded and cannot be rescheduled.
If Julia Cancels
If Julia needs to cancel, a replacement lesson is always arranged at another time at no extra cost.
Stopping Lessons
One week's notice required. Payments already made are non-refundable.
Time Changes
Changing your lesson time is an exception, not a routine request. It requires at least one week's notice and only happens if another suitable slot is genuinely free.
Practice & Progress
Regular practice at home is required. Parents are encouraged to support practice between lessons.
Parents
Parents are welcome to attend lessons if they wish.
Age Requirements
Pianoland accepts students from age 7 upwards. We do not take children under 7.
Locations
Lessons take place at Turners Cross Community Centre or Little Island Community Centre, Cork. Your location is agreed when you book.
Exams (Optional)
Exam pathways — RIAM, ABRSM, and LCME — are available if you want them. They are optional, not the focus of the school.
Behaviour
Respectful behaviour is expected. Any concerns are discussed with parents.
Online Lessons
Lessons may temporarily move online if needed.
Media
Photos and videos may occasionally be taken for school promotion.
Practice Instrument
Students should have access to a piano or keyboard at home for regular practice between lessons.
